    What does the Observatory advise when warnings are in force?
    • Amber Rainstorm Warning SignalTake precautions to reduce risks from heavy rain, such as flooding.
    • Red Rainstorm Warning SignalPeople working in exposed areas should suspend outdoor work. Before going out, consider whether weather and road conditions permit it.
    • Black Rainstorm Warning SignalStay indoors and take shelter in a safe place until the heavy rain has passed.
    • Thunderstorm WarningIf outdoors, take shelter in a safe place immediately or as soon as possible, and leave the water.
    • No. 8 Gale or Storm SignalComplete precautions before gales arrive. The Observatory issues the Pre-No. 8 Special Announcement within two hours before the expected issue of the No. 8 Signal.
    • Signals No. 9 or No. 10Do not go outdoors, and stay away from doors and windows exposed to the wind.
    • Very Hot / Cold Weather WarningsGuard against heatstroke in very hot weather. In cold weather, keep warm and wear suitable clothing.
