Use the Social Welfare Department’s Vacancy Enquiry System for Residential Respite Service / Emergency Placement. A social worker’s referral is required. Call 182 183 for enquiries.
The list identifies homes with designated respite places, not real-time bed numbers. Check vacancies in the SWD vacancy enquiry system ↗. A social worker must make the referral; the referring worker and home confirm places, care needs and admission arrangements.

Sai Kung District: list coverage
Sai Kung District covers both the Tseung Kwan O new town and the Sai Kung town and Clear Water Bay area. Homes are included by the SWD list’s district field; this is not a radius search around a particular place. The groups below are a rough Agoodeal grouping by Chinese address text and reflect the list when this page opened.
The following home types describe funding or scheme arrangements. They do not indicate care quality or vacant places.
Residential respite service
Residential respite provides short-term residential care for older people in need, for example while a carer rests, is in hospital, deals with family matters or temporarily cannot provide care at home.
The SWD states that the service is for people aged 60 or above who are physically and mentally suitable for communal living. It is not a shortcut to long-term residential care. Confirm the stay, assessment and documents with the referring social worker or home.
Before applying

Data explained
The SWD open data lists homes with designated residential respite places, but not vacant bed numbers. Treat the results as a contact list. Families and referring workers can use the SWD Vacancy Enquiry System to search by sex, dates and district; confirm the place, care level and admission date with the home.
For an urgent care crisis, ask a medical social worker, Integrated Family Service Centre or District Elderly Community Centre about other support.

Agoodeal reads the SWD Vacancy Enquiry System’s residential respite home file and extracts names, districts, addresses and telephone numbers for keyword, district and home-type filters. It does not rank homes or estimate vacancies. Official English fields come from the same SWD service-unit record. Address grouping is an Agoodeal reading aid based on address text.
